Choosing to adopt his mother’s maiden name, Potter spent his formative years in Tokyo, Japan, until relocating to the United States at seven.
Raised solely by his mother, he initially spoke Japanese as his primary language, although his proficiency has waned.

Alongside martial arts, he harbored passions for baseball, skateboarding, and drumming during his childhood days
Personal Life
In 2012, this actor used his voice to support the No H8 Campaign, which advocated for the marriage of same-sex couples.
This movement in California resonated with 16-year-old Ryan, as he believed in embracing diversity and promoting tolerance, and he didn’t want individuals in same-gender relationships to be mistreated.
Despite his advocacy for equal rights, there is no indication that he is gay himself.
Although there have been rumors about him dating women, these speculations have not been confirmed. It is believed that he was in a relationship with Gracie Dzienny from 2011 to 2013, and there were also rumors about him dating Bethany Mota, Stephanie LeBlanc, and Sydney Park at different times. However, neither side has confirmed these rumors.
Career
In 2010, at 13, Potter started his career in acting after receiving a leaflet in his kung fu class about Nickelodeon’s search for teenagers to star in a new martial-arts-themed show called Supah Ninjas.
After some thought, he audited and landed the lead role of Mike Fukanaga, a typical American teen who discovers his ninja heritage. The show was renewed for a second season in March 2012.
Following the premiere of Supah Ninjas in January 2011, Potter became a popular young star on Nickelodeon, appearing in teen magazines and at Nickelodeon events.
He also had a recurring role on Fred: The Show and later voiced the character Hiro Hamada in Big Hero 6 and its related animated series and video game.
Additionally, he lobbied for the role of Tim Drake and was cast as Beast Boy in the series Titans. Since 2020, he has been voicing the character Kenji Kon in Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous on Netflix.
